Nature designed the mother to be the natural thermostat for their baby. Newborns are vulnerable to heat loss. The earlier the newborn receives skin-to-skin contact with their mother, the quicker they are able to regulate their body temperature. Apart from physiological stability skin-to –skin contact is important in the bonding process between baby and mother as well as baby and father.
